Dry & Wet Media; Line & Tone; Still life & Composition
Demonstration of different media and techniques. Experimentation with dry media (charcoal, graphite, chalks, pastels and crayons) and wet media (inks and washes, wax resist, pens and brushes). Observational line studies. Exercises in tone and form; space and scale; still life composition. Introducing colour and mixed media.
Life Drawing: The Figure & Movement
Short warm-up poses with the life model. Exploring different approaches (eg. line & contour, gesture & tone, stillness & motion) in dry media. Tonal figure drawings using colour, wet and mixed media.
DRAWING INTO COLLAGE DAY
Demonstration of different media and collage techniques. Observational studies developing onto various surfaces using a variety of materials including magazine and newspaper clippings, paint, coloured papers, text, photographs and other found objects.
Introduction to basic 'hand' monoprinting techniques. Development of drawing/composition/observational studies using this media, paying particular attention to scale and mark making.
